VPS main function

In simple words, the function of VPS is a smaller version of the dedicated servers since they do not have physical form.

By running a VPS with its own copy of the operating system, customers have root or superuser access level and therefore can install any type of software that can be run under this operating system.

Some programs do not run well in virtual environments, including firewalls, antivirus clients, and even other virtual tools; some VPS function provide strong restrictions, but generally they are lax compared to those that exist in the servers of shared storage. Since several (virtual) clients can work on a single machine, a VPS usually has certain limitations in terms of processing time, RAM and disk space.

To who is recommended to have a VPS for?

If you are expanding your website or need more control over your applications, a VPS Server can be an excellent option.

Normally a VPS Server is recommended for websites whose memory and processing resources can be covered by shared Web Hosting plans; but at the same time they need other features available only in dedicated plans, such as:

▸Sending moderate to high emails (specific use).

▸Secure firewall.

▸PHP global variable changes

▸Apache server parameter modifications etc.

VPS servers are also ideal for those looking for a web hosting for light applications in JSP (Java / Tomcat), for example.

In addition, they are an interesting resource for companies that operate with the sending of e-mail marketing, since they have a much more flexible limit. While on shared servers there is a limit of 500 emails per hour, on VPS servers this limit can reach 10 thousand emails per hour.

Advantages that they give us

Security: Only you use your VPS server

▸Scalability: It allows scaling them in case you need more resources.

▸Quick recovery: It is easier to restore service on a VPS than on a physical server.

  1. One thing I would like to say is that before acquiring more computer memory, look into the machine within which it is installed. Should the machine is definitely running Windows XP, for instance, the actual memory limit is 3.25GB. Putting in in excess of this would basically constitute a new waste. Make certain that one’s mother board can handle an upgrade volume, as well. Good blog post.
