This first version of Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix is \u200b\u200bconsidered stable, but it is mainly intended for the community to test it and it does not seem recommended for use in production environments. Or at least that’s the feeling I’ve had after taking a look at it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are facing a distribution based on Ubuntu, with Cinnamon as the desktop environment, which also aspires to become the new official flavor of the Ubuntu family (hence it is called “Remix” as a preliminary step).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This new Distro is based as can be deduced on Ubuntu 19.10 and differs from the rest of the family by using the Cinnamon desktop (4.0) and the applications and tools that accompany it, as well as other components linked to it, for example the session manager LightDM or, like Lubuntu, the Calamares system installer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The developers say in the release notes (Google Docs) that they still have details – broadly, related to the presentation of the system – to be polished before giving the proposal completely and the goal is to have everything done for the release of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS next April, although this does not mean anything in particular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As with any other Ubuntu distribution, Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix is \u200b\u200bpacked with the essential tools, with that being said, here are some of the ones we can find:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
