Rogue software (known as bandit software or also fake antivirus). It is a type of malicious computer program whose main purpose is to make believe that a computer is infected by some type of virus. This type of software is usually downloaded and installed in a hidden way and against the user’s will directly from the Internet.

They try to deceive you under false promises and solutions of infections, when the user installs these programs, his system is infected. These fake Antivirus and Antispyware are designed to show a predetermined result (always of infection) and they do not do any type of real scan in the system as well as they will not eliminate any infection that we may have.

This threat are generally downloaded without the user’s authorization or requests its download very persistently after entering a site where a false online analysis of our equipment is carried out. This analysis simulation always detects threats and insists that our computer is in danger. When scanning from the alleged security application, a large number of threats are always found (obviously this is not true). But it is hardly ever detailed which files would be infected.

When the program wants to clean up the threats, it will “invite” you to buy the product license, generally by means of a pop-up that will take you to a site where you can carry out the transaction with a credit card. It is very important that under no circumstances are such data entered.

This software can be acquired in various ways, both intentional and unintentional, such as, by downloading some false codecs or false plugin that is offered to us as necessary when trying to watch a video on the Internet, by visiting some directly fraudulent sites or that its web code has been committed to download one of these Rogue Antivirus, through one of the thousands of Trojan type Viruses that are affiliated with them and when we get infected with one of these, we will begin to generate some of the symptoms
