As we have always seen, many browsers guarantee to be safe, offer private browsing, promise not to save your cookies to track you, and in essence, the home screen usually contains the same elements. But if you are an advanced user and you want more flexibility, you have probably looked for which option is best suited to you and that actually delivers what is said and so this time we will analyze Vivaldi.
Vivaldi has always emerged as one of the most interesting alternative browsers, in addition to that it has never tried to be the browser for everyone, but is especially oriented to a particular type of user: the power user, who wants a lot of control, a lot of customization and many extras. In that aspect it has never disappointed but quite the opposite, with each version there are more unique functions that this browser stacks more and more.
To begin to know this application, we must know that its rendering engine is the same one used by most browsers, that is, Chromium. In this way, the software enjoys all the benefits of the members of this project, but with its own touch. At the same time it is interesting to know that this software was created by Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, the creator of the popular Opera.
If something distinguishes this alternative from most of its competitors, it is the user interface that it presents. We mean that it is much more customizable and adaptable to our needs than what we find in other similar programs. From the outset, as soon as we install it, we find a screen that allows us to configure it. Here we can import the markers to start working as soon as possible, or choose a theme to adapt the interface.
In addition, it gives us direct access to functions such as browsing history, downloads, or bookmarks. But that’s not all, but we can also add websites that interest us. The striking thing about this is that, just by clicking on that button that we have created, a reduced view will be created with the updated content of that website. Of course this in order to save time and thus improve the use of the browser to be able to work with a much more adapted user interface.
Another positive point is that it offers you the option to block ads directly from the browser, without the need for extensions. Block ads on all sites or only the ones you choose with the plus of syncing your bookmarks, passwords, extensions and more across all your devices. The data is encrypted on your device with a password that the company itself claims not to have access to.
Something you have to keep in mind and be prepared for this is that Vivaldi is a program that consumes a lot of memory. This occurs even when compared to Chrome, a browser that is already known for its high consumption and the demands of the PC. By opening three identical tabs in the two browsers, Vivaldi has a much higher number of processes and, consequently, higher RAM consumption. In other words, their performance tends to compromise less efficient or older machines.
