What Adware is?

Defining adware is easy it is software that hijacks your browser or other parts of your system to flood you with unwanted ads.

An adware class program is any program that automatically displays or offers unwanted or misleading advertising, whether embedded in a web page through graphics, posters, floating windows, or during the installation of a program to the user, with the in order to generate profit for its authors.

There are some programs designed to help the user to find and modify adware programs, to block the presentation of advertisements or to eliminate parts of spyware. To avoid a negative reaction, with the entire advertising industry in general, adware creators must balance their attempts to generate revenue with the user’s desire not to be disturbed. Bear in mind that many times the user unintentionally clicks on disguised links in order to download said malicious software, it is best to be careful especially in the links of YouTube video tutorials and videos often shared on social networks.

There are two main ways that adware can enter your computer:

▸Through freeware or shareware: Adware may be bundled with some freeware or shareware programs, as a legitimate way to generate advertising revenue to help finance the development and distribution of these programs.

▸Infected websites: A visit to an infected website can result in an unauthorized installation of adware on your computer. Hacker technologies are often used. For example, your computer can be accessed through a browser vulnerability, and Trojans designed for silent installation can be used. Adware programs that work in this way are often called browser hijackers.

Adware programs often do not include an uninstall procedure and can use technologies similar to those used by viruses to penetrate your computer and run unnoticed. However, there may be legitimate reasons for you to have adware on your computer, so antivirus solutions may not be able to determine whether an adware program poses a threat to you.

For that there are some special types of antivirus that offer the option to detect adware and how to react to its presence.

Many freeware or shareware programs stop displaying advertising as soon as you register or purchase the program. However, some programs use built in and third party adware utilities, and in some cases, these utilities may remain installed on your computer after you register or purchase the program. In the case of some programs, removing the adware component could cause the application to malfunction.
