Watching movies or series is a good option to kill time. However, even with the rise in streaming services that some apps have, hundreds of users have chosen to consume movies on pirate sites. This option is positive for many, since the service offered by these pages, in most cases is free or very low cost. But what is behind all this generous offer? The consulting firm specializing in anti-piracy services, Incopro, analyzed thirty sites that offer content that infringes copyrights and indicated that only one of these was free of threats. In the investigation, the team searched for five popular movies and five television shows on each site.
The way these pages operate is through incessant and misleading advertising. They use a series of pop-ups with all kinds of ads, which is the most conventional way to embed some malware that could be catastrophic for your device or computer.
The firm said that 20 of the 30 sites surveyed contained credit card fraud and other types of scams where users are asked for personal information to access the alleged content.
