This was revealed by Capcom executives through a statement issued by the company on November 4, this attack that capcom received which they indicated this event happend and that those responsible introduced malware that compromised staff access to the servers where the files needed to carry out daily activities were housed. This Japanese company that produces world renowned video game franchises such as Megaman, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter and Street Fighter, Capcom, was the victim of an attack perpetrated by a group of unknown hackers.

This event earlier this week, the hackers requested the payment of a significant amount of money in Bitcoin as a ransom for the information withheld. The company clarified that we can be sure that no information associated with customers was compromised and that it does not compromise connections so that players can play their preferred titles online, but unfortunately this is not so secure anymore.

The group of hackers used the Ransomware “Ragnar Locker” to access information hosted on computers and servers, where in fact there were personal data associated with clients and employees, corporate contracts, emails, bank files and documents related to intellectual property. These most recent reports indicate that criminals are asking the company for a payment of $ 11 million in Bitcoin funds to release and return all the information to Capcom, under threat of making all the information public or selling it to the highest bidder.

Due to the investigation of experts, recently published reports indicate that those responsible for the attack are the members of the group of hackers Ragnar Locker, which infected the company’s computers with a Ransomware-type virus or at least that is believed until now but not you are 100% sure.

These events are unfortunately not new and have happened many times since these people not only harm the companies but also the users and buyers of that company and what we can expect is to see what new information will come out.
