Your device was hacked by hackers. Read the manual now!!! and this is how begins this new campaign of extortion attempts with the purpose of deceiving the recipients to achieve the purpose of their extortion.

These emails, probably sent indiscriminately, assure recipients that their computer or device has been hacked and that if they do not pay a sum of money, a supposedly intimate video of a sexual nature will be sent to their contacts.

OSI recommends that users who have received this email or a similar one ignore it and do not reply. “This is an attempt to scam you to make a financial payment under the pretext of not disseminating supposedly compromised material of yours,” they explain. A payment, in addition, that is requested in bitcoins.

There are many reasons for which it may be highly unlikely that an attacker has accessed our computer, has our contact list and, in addition, has an intimate video like the one you describe. The reason why it is recommended not to respond and simply ignore the extortionists is that they may think that the account is inactive and, in the future, they may not use it to send new scams.

On the contrary, if unfortunately you have been a victim of the fraud in question, from the office of the National Cybersecurity Institute it is recommended that you collect all the evidence you have, such as emails, payment captures or other details and file a complaint with the National Body of Police, the Civil Guard or the autonomic police. They recommend, others, the use of witnesses in order to have the greatest type of information that you can acquire.

We have to bear in mind that this campaign of extortion practice are not a new thing and there have always been cases of this type which incite us users to fall and believe what is said in an email but as it has always been said, do not believe in everything what the internet says and stay confident and prepared for any situation.
