User interface

Ubuntu from its first release used the default user interface of the GNOME (GNOME is the basic user interface of the GNOME desktop environment) with a lower panel to list windows and an upper panel for menus and system indicators, from version 11.04 the Canonical team decided to launch its own user interface, of that way Unity was designed to optimize the space and interaction of the interface.
