OracleLinux. Formerly known as OracleEnterpriseLinux, it is a Red Hat-based GNU / Linux distribution, repackaged and distributed by Oracle, available under the GNU (GPL) since late 2006. OracleLinux can be downloaded free of charge from Oracle’s electronic delivery service ( Oracle’E-delivery service), and may be freely redistributed.

In 2011, OracleLinux had approximately 7,000 users subscribed to the Oracle Oracle Unbreakable Linux Support Program in English. OracleLinux provides the latest innovations, tools, and features that enable you to innovate, collaborate, and create solutions across all traditional, cloud-based, and virtual environments. With advanced scalability and high reliability for enterprise systems and applications, OracleLinux offers outstanding performance and is used in all x86-based Oracle-designed systems.

OracleLinux can be used, distributed and updated for free, and it is very easy to download. It is the only Linux distribution system that has distribution support for kernel updates without any downtime with Oracle Ksplice, allowing customers to apply security patches and perform other updates without having to reboot. In addition, it offers diagnostic capabilities to debug kernel issues on production systems.

OracleLinux is certified on IBM, HP, Dell, and Cisco servers. In 2010, Force announced that it will have support for OracleVM and OracleLinux9. OracleLinux is also available on Amazon EC2 as Amazon Machine Image10 The Oracle / Sun servers with x86-64 processors can be configured to use OracleLinux11.
