Raspberry Pi, is a credit card-sized computer that connects to your television and a keyboard. It is a board that supports various components necessary in a common computer. “It is a capable little computer that can be used for many of the things your desktop PC does, such as spreadsheets, word processors and games, but obviously being low in capacity requires special software and that is where Linux comes in, on Raspberry.

The board, which was smaller than a credit card before, has several ports and inputs, two USD, one for Ethernet and HDMI output. These ports allow you to connect the minicomputer to other devices, keyboards, mice, and displays. It also has a System on Chip that contains an ARM processor that runs at 700 Mhz, a VideoCore IV graphics processor and up to 512 MG of RAM. It is possible to install free operating systems through an SD card.

Being a computer it needs an operating system, and that is where specific Linux distributions for Raspberry Pi and similar products come into play. This OS is ideal for slow computers, and it is known for offering tons of options. There is no single Linux, but it is divided into distributions with clear differences. Even the distros themselves have different versions, delimited by the desktop environment they use and the consumption of resources such as RAM and CPU. Some of the lighter distributions are specially made for Raspberry Pi.

Taking this into account, this can be of great interest to us since, as we have seen that Raspberry Pi needs to have low-power programs and so Linux since it is low-power, some of its forks or adaptations take this maxim to the extreme. System consumption is practically reduced to a minimum, leaving enough free RAM for multiple processes to run at the same time. Nothing to do, for example, with Windows 10 or any other operating system that requires large layers.
