Microsoft will delay the end of life of some versions of Windows 10 due to the coronavirus. The company made the decision to postpone the end of support for different versions of Windows 10, both for end consumers and for businesses and education, as well as Windows Server.

For end consumers, The version 1809 Microsoft said they are temporarily pausing additional feature updates for this version. Thereafter progress will be drastically reduced and will be monitored near the completion date. Other services and versions of Windows that will receive the grace period are Windows 10 1809 IoT Core, Windows Server 1809, Configuration Manager 1810m SharePoint Server, Foundation and Project Server 2010, as well as Dynamics 365 cloud services, each with tweaks ranging from two to six months, depending on the product.

While the common user who has a this software on PC or laptop would not have to worry about these announcements since system updates are performed automatically, the adjustment in support dates benefits companies that depend on an IT department to perform an equipment update.

Why did Microsoft make this decision on Windows 10?

The latest version of Windows 10 is 1909 and has a life cycle ending on May 10, 2022. The next update will be released in May and will be identified as Build 2004.
