What is Zorin?

In a list of perfect Linux distributions for users with little experience in the free operating system par excellence, Zorin OS could not be missing. A different project, extremely careful and determined that advocates attracting an audience perhaps not too seduced by the usual proposals in the GNU / Linux field.

A distro known for offering customization options that bring it closer to Windows 10 and macOS that now reaches one of its most outstanding evolutions: Zorin OS 15. A version based on Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS, the Linux 4.18 kernel, an adaptation of the environment desktop GNOME 3.30 and, as one of the main novelties, Zorin Connect, a solution to integrate the system in Android through an application based on GSConnect and KDE Connect.

Zorin Connect, the integration with Android, also stands out. Through this application, the relationship between the team with ZorinOS and our Android device is tightened by synchronizing notifications, offering access to the terminal’s photo gallery, sharing files between the devices or controlling the playback of multimedia content on the computer from the phone.

Features of this system

The appearance of ZorinOS varies greatly from the original, with a menu reminiscent of Windows, ideal for Linux beginners who are still somewhat lost. However, Zorin OS supports customizing the background and style of application menus.

ZorinOS has a good selection of applications by default, including the most important Ubuntu tools, such as its software center, its diagnostic tools and even Ubuntu One. On the other hand, Zorin OS has pre-installed useful applications such as codecs, drivers, Wine and Java, thus avoiding having to install them by hand.

These are the minimum requirements to run Zorin-OS:

700 MHz processor, 376 MB of RAM and 3 GB of Hard Disk.
