Computer security is one of the most dreamed of jobs by computer hobbyists, and it is also one of the most demanded positions by companies. Better qualified professionals are increasingly needed to be able to audit an entire network, ensure its security and protect it from cyber attacks. Although Kali Linux is in the spotlight when it comes to GNU / Linux distributions focused on ethical hacking, it is not the only one in its segment. One of the main competitors is Parrot Security OS, which is also based on Debian.

As an operating system for ethical hacking, it includes penetration and hacking tools, to which the Netinstall images, Docker images and isolation are added as new features thanks to the inclusion of custom Firejail profiles linked to the underlying AppArmor support. The availability of Docker images allows you to use Parrot Security OS beyond GNU / Linux, also covering Windows and Mac.

Another important move is the replacement of Apache by nginx as the default HTTP server. According to the developers of the distribution, this has been done because Apache is “difficult and complex to configure and maintain”, being nginx the most powerful alternative, since it is very light and easy to use, and is famous not only for being a fast and secure web server, but also for being a powerful proxy, cacher, load balancer and general purpose forwarder.

Undoubtedly, one of the advantages offered by this distro over the others that we can find on the net is that it is one of the most complete in terms of a variety of tools. Its developers have wanted to offer users as many tools as possible, yes, without redundancy, leaving only the best. Parrot OS is factory configured to offer its users the best out-of-the-box experience, that is, to allow them to use the distro with all its functionalities without having to do anything else.
