UbuntuStudio is an operating system, based on Linux, which its main purpose is to offer us a complete collection of all kinds of multimedia software ideal for creating this type of content from our computer. Uses the Ubuntu kernel in real time, along with the generic Ubuntu kernel as a second option on boot.

This distribution is completely free and open source, and is developed by a group of volunteers who seek to bring the user a Debian system both for a basic and novice use of multimedia content creation as well as for the more advanced users who need the most professional results.

All the applications that UbuntuStudio offers us are divided mainly into 5 categories: Audio, Video, Image and Photography and Office Automation.

Audio: We can find great applications such as Jack, a low latency server to connect MIDI equipment, Ardor, for mixing and composing audio, sequencers and synthesizers, such as Audacity, Hydrogen and Yoshimi, electric guitar amplifiers such as Rakarrack and multiple tools for programming advanced

Video: It is simplified to include by default the most complete and professional applications for creating and editing this content. Within this category we will find applications such as Openshot, DVDStyler and the FFMPEG framework and encoder.

Office Automation: The alternative to Office, Scribus, for easy creation of professional PDF documents, and Caliber, for creating and editing e-books.

Image and Photography: Essential applications, such as GIMP, the alternative to Photoshop, Inkscape, for creating vector images, Blender, for 3D images, and MyPaint, for those looking for a simple application for creating artistic images. Here we will also find applications such as Darktable, for editing RAW images, and Shotwell, a photo viewer and organizer.

This version does not initially include the OpenOffice.org or Libreoffice office software, but does include 2D and 3D programs, audio and video editing programs, as well as other audio plug-ins. Although they can be installed later along with all those included in the official Ubuntu repositories.
